Hey friends! What is uppp?? Y’all. This week was so normal, it was incredible ahaha. We were locked in this week. Ok, let me explain this transfer a bit. So I am a secretary right? We know that. However, I am also training a new missionary. I am not gonna lie, when I found that out I was extremely confused. The idea of training while working in the office all day just made no sense in my brain. The first week I was so lost on how I was gonna do it but this week we dialed in. Lemme tell you about it.
The Area!!
We did so much work in the area this week. I know you are shocked. I am too. The office life was normal. Zero side quests, zero late nights. It was too normal. There were times I just wandered around, almost bored, so I took the Lord up on the challenge and decided that I would put my heart and soul into training this missionary. I don’t have too many crazy stories or long things to write about this week but as we worked diligently we saw so many little and big miracles.
The Random Moments in the Work
The alarm to the chapel went off at midnight once again
We had to make sure no one was living in the chapel attic
“I’m not the senior comp here but _________” [My filho, everyday]
We now have emotional support duckies in the office, alongside our dino nuggies.
Elder Ramos ran a bike into the wall
Miracles in the Work
Success in finding this week after many weeks of struggles.
Referrals from people we are teaching.
Members wanting to help us in the work.
We ran into members in the road during the week and got to put smiles on their faces.
My son’s portuguese is coming along way quicker now
Our recent convert’s and our prayers were answered, freeing him from his work so that he can participate in Church.
Our friend came to Church with her sister and accepted to start preparing for baptism.
Her sister let us go teach her a little bit about what we believe and even though she is a very firm catholic she became interested in learning more about the Gospel and wants to support our friend in being baptized
Our friend that disappeared right before his baptism appeared again! He came back to Church and will be baptized next week.
A family whose son is applying for BYU came with him to Church and they love the Gospel! We cannot wait to invite them to be baptized.
Two of the newest members of the ward got to pass the sacrament on Sunday.
We finally got a member referral to meet with the Sisters in his area and to talk to his family about baptism
My miracle friend from stake conference last week went to Church while he was on vacation.
Joy!
God's Hand
All the miracles
My best friend, Sister Kitchen, came into the office and said hi out of nowhere.
So much joy in the work
Energy to work and patience to train
Seeing the change in missionaries that didn’t think they would be able to keep going
Lunch with a member of the new bishopric on Saturday and being able to share our experiences and hopes with him
Talking to my recent converts from my old areas, laughing with them and seeing how well they are progressing.
Spiritual Thoughts
The biggest thing for me this week was how happy I was. Last week I talked about reflecting Christ’s light and how I had the opportunity to do that. The more I thought about it, the more I realized I probably needed that experience just as much as those I was serving. As I did that I was filled with the light of Christ and I was happy. Then, this week, as I went out and taught and testified I was filled with joy and peace. I was already so happy and as I worked hard I felt even happier. I found so much joy in the work and a desire to keep working hard and facing the challenges.
15 And if it so be that you should labor all your days in crying repentance unto this people, and bring, save it be one soul unto me, how great shall be your joy with him in the kingdom of my Father!
16 And now, if your joy will be great with one soul that you have brought unto me into the kingdom of my Father, how great will be your joy if you should bring many souls unto me!
I felt this all through the week. I know it is true. It was incredible how much joy I felt and how many miracles I saw. Anyways, that is that. I hope y’all have a fantastic week. Remember to smile!
Amo vocês,
Elder Urbano
